She attended Wiley School and Broughton High School in Raleigh, graduating in 1954. She then attended Peace College, graduating in 1956, and completed her BA at Meredith College in 1981.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, which was undoubtedly her favorite role of all. When she was widowed at a young age, she filled her life with traveling, a close circle of friends, church activities, swimming events all over the world with her youngest son David, and then in later years, the many diverse activities of her grandchildren. She loved the beach and spent much time at her home away from home in Atlantic Beach. She was an avid NC State Wolfpack fan and Wolfpack Club member, attending many games and faithfully watching them on TV when she could no longer attend. She was an ardent classical music fan and patron of the NC Symphony for many years. Betty’s faith was an important part of her life. She and her husband Jerry joined First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh in 1966 where she was a volunteer for many years and remained an active member until her passing.
She was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Veda Moore, husband Jerry Fox in 1988, her granddaughter Madeline Fox, her grandson Kevin Fox, and her daughter-in-law Wanda Price Fox.
Betty is survived by her three children, Michael, Leslie, and David (Richelle), and her five grandchildren, Katherine Fox, Hannah Fox, Jerry Fox, Abigail Fox, and Dylan Fox, all of Raleigh. Her extended Fox family full of nieces and nephews were also very precious to her.
A service of witness to the resurrection was held on December 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, Raleigh NC followed by a reception at the church. A private interment for the family followed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Friendship Fund in her memory.
