

Betty Stanley Moore, 90, of Raleigh, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. She was born on November 15, 1920 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Raymond and Edna Stanley. She spent her early years in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She moved to Raleigh in 1947 and was a founding and active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed knitting.
Ms. Moore is survived by her five children Joseph Moore, Jr., Betty Caruso, Patricia Moore-Boyette, Frances Moore and Katherine Moore; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine, Joe Forrest, Jason, Kevin, Brian, Anna, and Emily; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Alexandra.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Lewis Moore, Sr.; sister, Edna Stanley; brother, James Stanley; and daughter-in-law, Julie Moore.
Family will receive visitors at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh, from 3:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, September 11th. Funeral service will be held at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 12th. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
The family would like to express to express their heartfelt appreciation to special friends and caregivers for their care and love over the last four years.
