

Beverly Zimmerman Armstrong, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 27, 2016. Bev is survived by her sons, Brad and his fiancé Donna Loverdi of Raleigh, Barton of Raleigh, and Jon and his wife Carolyn of Raleigh; as well as grandchildren Mahya of Durham and Bradley and Timothy of Richmond, Virginia.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Frank Bradley Armstrong III, her sister Eileen Christiansen and brother Noel Zimmerman.
Bev was born to the late Paul Zimmerman and Vera Hayes on December 15, 1929 in Porterville, CA. Growing up she was active in the Caledonia Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She later entered the University of California at Berkeley where she earned her Bachelor of Science and then entered the Graduate School of Public Health. It was during this time she met her future husband Frank B Armstrong, III of Brownsville TX. They were married on December 27, 1958 and moved and settled in Raleigh, NC. Bev was a loving wife and mother to her family. She was very active in community service as a volunteer with such organizations as Christ Episcopal Church, the NC Museum of Art, the Raleigh Fine Arts, Wake Relief, the NC State University Woman's Club, the NC Museum of History, the NC Museum of Natural Science and The Readers Club among others. She will forever serve as an amazing role model of patience, generosity, positive attitude and selfless love.
The family will have a visitation at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 300 Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh NC on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 7 – 9 pm, and a memorial service at Christ Episcopal Church, at 120 East Edenton Street, Raleigh NC on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Christ Church with the designation for “Wake Relief/ Beverly Armstrong” to 120 E Edenton St, Raleigh NC 27601, or you can go online to christchurchraleigh.org, select “Giving”, Online Giving and select Wake Relief as the recipient and follow the requested fields to donate online.
