Bill Harrington

William F. Harrington, of Raleigh went to be with his heavenly father on Friday, January 11, 2013. Billy was born in Greenville, NC on August 26, 1927 to the late Eva and Robert Harrington. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy and Bob both of Greenville, NC.

Billy served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with an undergraduate and master’s degree in education. Billy taught and coached at Daniels Jr. High and Sanderson High School, in Raleigh for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge and sports of all kinds. Most of all he loved his family, friends, church activities and the UNC Tar Heels.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Dot Harrington; daughters, Anne Karangelen and husband Pete of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Carol King and husband Ed of Greenville, NC, son Bill Harrington, Jr. and wife Louisa of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Will, Tanner, Preston, Anna and Lillie of Dallas, TX.

A memorial service will be held at Hayes Barton Baptist Church on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:00PM. A visitation with the family will follow the service. Burial will be private.
