

Carol Medlin Hardee,69, died Monday, September 13th 2010 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Carol was born December 23rd, 1940 to Larkin Washington Medlin and Daisy Alleen Pipkin Medlin in Raleigh, NC. Carol attended Cary High School and went on to further her education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where she received her music diploma. Carol worked as a NC state employee before her retirement.
She also worked in the music department of the NC Southern Baptist Convention and later became the secretary for Trinity United Methodist Church.
As a lifelong member of Inwood Baptist Church, Carol served as church pianist, organist, and choir member. Her music accompanied many people who sang spiritual and gospel music including her work as the pianist for The Psalmsmen Quartet and more recently, The Carolina Grace Quartet.
Carol’s dedication to her church led her on many mission trips. She went to San Andreas, South America with The Psalmsmen Quartet, served on a team from Inwood Baptist Church with four mission trips to Haiti. Carol also served on a mission from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to Thailand as well as to assist with disaster relief after hurricane Katrina.
Two times Carol served as a member of the NC Baptist Disaster Relief Team serving at Ground Zero after the September, 11th tragedy and even went back a third time with the Salvation Army.
Other than her mother, Carol is survived by her husband, James A. Hardee, of Raleigh, NC; three daughters, Jan Permenter Lattier and husband Richard of Raleigh, NC, June Permenter Young and husband Jay of Garner, NC, and Terri Permenter Rogers and husband Gary of New Market, TN; her brother Tommy Medlin and his wife Carolyn; a sister Peggy Medlin Horne and husband Rick of Lookout Mountain, TN; four granddaughters, Beth Young Mitchell and husband Van of Greenville, NC, Courtney Young Little and husband Brent of Gastonia, NC, Miranda Rogers Schaefer and husband Adam of Goose Creek, SC, and Heather Young Faircloth and husband Jason of Dunn, NC; five grandsons, Joshua Lattier and wife Ashley, Jason Lattier, Adam Young and wife Brooke, Kyle Young all of Raleigh, NC and Carson Rogers and wife Leigh Ann of Wake Forest, NC; eight Great Grandchildren, Chandler, Raigan, and Weston Mitchell of Raleigh, NC, Mallory and Michael Young of Raleigh, NC, Kyndall Faircloth of Dunn, NC and Moira and Knox Rogers of Wake Forest, NC; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and special friends.
Other than her father, Carol was preceded in death by her grandparents, Guy and Lillie Aman; and sisters Barbara Montague and Marilyn Wadford.
Carol was a loving wife, daughter, mother, and “Grommy”. She dedicated her life to serving her family and her Lord, Jesus Christ, through her gift of music and mission work. She touched many lives with her love.
A celebration of Carol’s Life will be held on Friday, September 17th, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Inwood Baptist Church, 3700 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening September 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh, NC 27605. Burial will be at Inwood Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Inwood Baptist Church, Mission to Haiti; Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Scholarship Fund; and Hospice of Wake County.
