

Charleen was born in Plymouth, North Carolina on May 9, 1952. Survivors include her husband, Gary Powers; two children, son Orry Powers and wife Chelsea Powers, and daughter Micah Thompson and her husband Darren Thompson; two sisters, Kathy Morton and her husband Tom Morton, and Anna Land and her husband Mike Land; three treasured grandchildren, Mariah Thompson, Mackenzie Thompson and Makayla Thompson; four nieces, Amber Snell and her husband Bodie Snell, Kristin Delancey and her husband John Delancey, Cindy Morton Rose and her husband Will Rose, Jill Moulson and her husband John Moulson; and ten great nieces and nephews, Rose Snell, Will Snell, Bray Snell, Lizzy Snell, Evie Delancey, Jackson Delancey, Hannah Rose, Ella Rose, Ben Moulson and Hugh Moulson.
Charleen attended Jamesville Elementary School, Waco Elementary School and East Mecklenburg High School before graduating from Atlantic Christian College with a BS Degree in Education. She taught Elementary Physical Education in Wake County Public Schools for thirty-seven years. During her tenure as a teacher, she received Walmart Teacher of the Year and had the gymnasium at Vandora Spring Elementary School named "Power's Peak" after her many years of service to the school.
Services will be held at Hillyer Memorial Christian Church in Raleigh, NC, on December 15, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall, with services to follow in the Sanctuary at 11:00am. Graveside services will be held at the Jamesville Town Cemetery at 3:00pm.
Flowers are acceptable, or memorial contributions may be made to Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Brown-Wynne, 300 Saint Mary's St, Raleigh is serving the Powers family.
