Cislyn was born on June 30, 1930, in San German, Cuba to the late William and Ethel George. She grew up in Crooked River, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies, and migrated to the United States where she became an X-ray Technician and supervisor at Elmhurst Hospital, in New York City.
She is survived by her daughter Carrie Taye and her sons Erol and Howard Ricketts; Granddaughters Nsombi, Makeda, Tsehai and Kaliah Ricketts; Ayanna Reid and Keisha Gaines; Great grandchildren Amiri and Naya Reid; Naomi and Sydney Gaines. Grandson Sekou Ricketts predeceased her in 2016.
A funeral service was held on Friday, March 18, 2022 in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Evelyn Toliver. Burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park. (Hyperlinks to videos of both services can be found below under the heading DONATIONS)
