Mitch had worked in his grandfather’s print shop, Mitchell Printing Company, until its closing in the late 60’s, and then later worked at Department of Corrections. He opened his own print shop, Mitchell's Printing Services Inc., in 1987, and retired in October of 2009, passing the company on to his son Eddie.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Edna Marie Epps Godwin, son, Lewis Edward Godwin, daughter, Phyllis Marie Godwin Cole, four grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Godwin Brame, Lewis E. Godwin, Jr., Audra Marie Cole Morris, Michelle Anderson Cole, sister, Mary Godwin Shipper of Charleston, SC, and the star of the family, great granddaughter, Skyler Marie Brame.
He was preceded by his son, Clarence Mitchell (Mick) Godwin, Jr., and brother Worth L. Godwin, Jr.
