He graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He worked as a State Conservationist for the Soil Conservation Service of the USDA. He was actively involved in hunting (squirrels), fishing, boating, gardening, spending time with friends, family, and his dog.
Coy is preceded in death by Jim Garrett, son. He is survived by Barbara Ann Garrett, wife; Jay Garrett, son; Julie Garrett, daughter-in-law.
A visitation for Coy will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 7, 2023 at 10:00 am at Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park.
