Darry Wayne Johnson

Darry Wayne Johnson, 49, of Raleigh, died on November 7, 2014. Darry was a native to Supply, NC, and moved to the Raleigh area about 20 years ago. He previously worked for the Raleigh Housing Authority as a Maintenance Mechanic, and greatly enjoyed all of the interactions his job allowed him with the people in the community. Because of his background in construction, Darry loved to build things, fix things, and do things with his hands. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years, was a great cook, enjoyed motorcycles, and had a great love for all animals.

Darry loved to spend time with his family and reminisce about childhood antics with his friends and cousins. Everyone fondly remembers him as a kind and funny person. Darry loved his children more than anything.

Darry is survived by his wife, Teresa Johnson; three children, Ashlee Johnson, Samantha Johnson, and Daniel Johnson; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Estelle Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 3:00pm at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 5101 Oak Park Rd, Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Darry's memory to the SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603, or to a fund at St Giles to support Darry’s family (“Johnson Family” in memo).
