My heartfelt condolences to Ginny, Karen, Scott, Donna, Cliff and other family and friends of David. I remember him as a loving husband and father, dedicated to his family and his duty to country. I also recall David’s great sense of humor.

Good bye, Big Brother ... we will see each other again in Heaven. 
At 6 ' 4", you were always larger than life to me...being the little sister 10 years younger.  You were a life-long story teller, filled with humor, a man with a hearty laugh, a curious child and adult -- always taking something apart and you always had multiple projects in your immaculate workshop. 
In high school, you relished bringing up the brass section of the Marching Band playing the sousaphone with your pal, Larry Reel. And, oh, that blonde wave of hair slicked perfectly in your high-school Senior picture. James Dean was jealous.
I remember you looking so fresh and smart in your show whites when showing our Registered Guernseys at the Saratoga County Fair. 
The Army took you all over the globe flying helicopters and being an instructor. Transportation was your specialty field and how you did love to soar. But, you were always a farm boy at heart. A sod buster.
You loved to have your hands busy and in the dirt ... growing the most impressive garden vegetables and your mouse-trap-designed irrigation system that caught rain water was genius. You fashioned your own fly rods out of bamboo that you cut and seasoned. 
Until Parkinsons took your life on a different path about 10 years ago, you made your own flies for fishing, rejuvenated furniture, fixed anything mechanical that came your way, made fancy yeast breads, mixed the best darn sausage anyone could ever taste (just as good as Grandpa Fred Dodd's farm recipe), refereed college volleyball games, volunteered your time and talents for any needs that your church had, and raised two terrific children with your wife, Ginny.
You were an AMAZING son, husband, father and brother.  Always calling me when you heard we were having bad weather in New York.  Putting my picture (football Mom cheering in the stands...pom poms and all) on a Wheaties cereal box when Blake's Schuylerville football team won the Wasaren League. How I will miss your stories!

Dave was a true friend and such a gentleman. When his gait was beginning to slow he continued to always open the care door for his bride and see her into the car.  
Martha and I were reminiscing about all of our good times together.  Dave was perfectionist, always wanting to fix what needed to be repaired or improving on the item as it was.  Still have the domino rack he cut out of plexiglass, a well-designed item.
I can still taste that yummy lettuce he shared from his well kept garden, safe from the deer by his design. The fresh salsa he made was unlike any other.
His fireplace was always a welcoming spot.  Wish I had that pleasure on this colod day.  His wood pile put most men to shame, another example of his perfectionism!! No wonder he could make and tie those unique fish flys!! Glad he enjoyed fly fishing.  His collection of stickers from fruit was probably one of a kind; he knew exactly what they all meant.
Being the first Sully could be added to his accomplishments. He was very modest when talking about that.
Hearing Dave talk about growing up on the farm showed how he cherished his family.  He was proud of that dining room table from his family and often spoke about the movers rolling it down the driveway. Still brought alarm to him!
Dave enjoyed plants and had a green thumb.  He taught me I was over watering my plants!
We missed Dave this past summer at the Braves games and will still ask who is going to protect our heads with a ball glove?
The most important memory of Dave includes his faithfulness to his faith.  He put Christ first in his life. His attendance at the Bible Study in Harrisonburg was not interrupted by less important events.
Dave you can shout your "Hallelujah" now for sure.  You have arrived home!
Love to Ginny.  Keep all your memories close to your heart.  May God give you comfort like only He can.

Mike and I are so saddened by this news.  The world lost a jovial, kind, and special man.  We always enjoyed working with you at your Staunton home and becoming friends, not just client/contractor.  
Ginny, we hope you all find peace and comfort in knowing Dave's health struggle is over and that he's in a better place.  
Our deepest condolences.  Dave will be missed.

Dave was always ready to help,encourage, joke,  laugh,teach, bake an awesome coffee cake and biscuits. Most of all, he was a great and loyal husband, father and friend who loved God and was always available to pray for those of us who have been blessed to call Dave and Ginny, FRIENDS!! We will miss you, Dave!💓

I'm so sorry for the loss of pops he was such a wonderful man to have conversations with about planes and helicopters and of course fishing you will be missed ... Love Sonja

A life long friend who was a godly man. His jokes were corney, but always laughable. His flight knowledge was immense. We loved him and will miss him dearly until we reunite in heaven. Ginny, Karen, & Scott, may God give you comfort in the wonderful memories you have of him.
