David Lloyd Greenlee, 81, of Raleigh passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at his home with his family. He fought a courageous battle with Parkinson’s for almost 20 years. David was born January 10, 1940, in Corydon, Iowa to the late Lloyd & Maurine Greenlee.
David was always involved in community activities. He especially liked working in youth activities that his son was a member of - Little League Baseball and Boy Scouts. He was a past president of Creston, Iowa Rotary Club and Clayton, N.C. Rotary Club. He was a recipient of Paul Harris Fellows award. He loved his church, family, and sports especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.
He started his career with Iowa Southern as a meter reader and at the time of retirement with Alliant Energy he was a district manager. After retirement David & Shirley moved from Iowa to North Carolina as they wanted to be close to their family.
David is survived by his wife Shirley of 62 years; his son, David B. and wife Kelly and two grandchildren- Allyson of Raleigh and Reid of Gilead, Maine; a brother, Maurice of Cummings, Iowa; and nieces and nephews. He loved spending time with family.
A funeral service is planned for Saturday, September 18th at 3:00 p.m. at Edenton St. United Methodist Church, Raleigh. The family will receive friends following the service, at the church. The service will be livestreamed, please join through www.brownwynneraleigh.com.
A memorial service in Corydon, Iowa will be held at a later date.
