David Alan Hinze

David Alan Hinze , 61, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 in Stony Point, North Carolina. Born on June 2, 1964 in Hempstead, New York; he was the son of Frederick Hinze and Eileen Guardiano Kleinfeldt.

David graduated Smithtown West High School, Class of 1982. In his youth, he participated in the Boy Scouts, enjoyed hiking, fishing, camping, canoeing (especially during a trip to Alaska) and he was an avid cook. An outdoor person, he lived in Maine for some time before relocating to North Carolina 16 years ago. His love of animals was life-long, especially for his dog, Sally. Most importantly, David loved his family.

David is survived by his mother: Eileen Kleinfeldt, of Wake Forest; his daughter: Sythia Hinze (Craig Lynch); granddaughter: Lillana Mae Lynch; brother: Richard Hinze; nephews: Nicholas Hinze and Andrew Hinze; step-siblings and their families: Patricia and Rob Hoyt, John Kleinfeldt, Michael and Angela Kleinfeldt; and other extended family and friends including his companion of several years: JoAnn Madison.

He is preceded in death by his father: Fred Hinze; step-father: John Kleinfeldt; and sister-in-law: Joann Hinze.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 1pm - 3pm at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh, North Carolina. Funeral Services will begin at 3pm in the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice for animals in David's memory.
