David Alan Hinze

David Alan Hinze , 61, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 in Stony Point, North Carolina. Born on June 2, 1964 in Hempstead, New York; he was the son of Eileen Guardiano Kleinfeldt and the late Frederick Hinze.

David graduated Smithtown West High School, Class of 1982. In his youth, he participated in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed fishing, camping and was an avid cook. An outdoor person, he lived in Maine for some time before relocating to North Carolina 16 years ago. His love of animals was life-long, especially for his dog, Sally.

David is survived by his mother: Eileen Kleinfeldt, of Wake Forest; his daughter: Sythia Hinze (Craig Lynch); granddaughter: Lillana Mae Lynch; brother: Richard Hinze; nephews: Nicholas Hinze and Andrew Hinze; step-siblings and their families: Patricia and Rob Hoyt, John Kleinfeldt, Michael and Angela Kleinfeldt; and other extended family and friends including his companion of several years: JoAnn Madison.

He is preceded in death by his father; step-father: John Kleinfeldt; and sister-in-law: Joann Hinze.
