

David Kerstine was born in Belleville, Kansas on December 8, 1944 the youngest child of Leo and Charlotte Kerstine. Shortly after the family of 5 moved to Wichita, Kansas. He had two older brothers Gene and Terry.
As a youngster he had many jobs such as delivering milk, cleaning reclaimed bricks, flipping burgers, delivering flowers and setting bowling pins are only a few that he mentioned.
He joined the Marine Corp in 1961 starting his service at Camp Pendleton in California and ending his tour of duty in 1966 at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. While in the service he was awarded his Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter and was recommended for reenlistment. He was a Radio Telegraph Operator and rose to the rank of Corporal.
He met his wife Suzanne Weston in Rochester, New York and a 55 Year romance blossomed. They had three children: David who was born in North Carolina, Linda and Steven who were born in New York State.
David graduated from Wichita State University after his service with the degree Bachelor of Business Administration and Economics. While in college he also worked at Beech Aircraft in Production Control and started a used car dealership.
He worked for IBM for 30 years during which time he earned his MBA from SUNY of Binghamton. He earned several awards while working for IBM.
While working at IBM he also coached youth basketball. Those teams won several AAU championships. He travelled with these teams all over Florida and to several other states some of which were Indianapolis and Louisiana. He also coached high school basketball. That team also won many championships.
After he left IBM he earned his CFP Certificate which he passed on his first try. He worked as a CFP at AXA for 10 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Leo and Charlotte (DeWolfe) Kerstine, his brother Terry Kerstine and his sister-in-law Norma Kerstine. He is survived by his wife Suzanne, his children David Kerstine, Linda Duffey and Steven Kerstine, several grandchildren, two great granddaughters, born on August 1, 2019, his brother Gene Kerstine of Wichita, Kansas, his sister-in-law Phyllis Kerstine of Wichita, Kansas his brother-in-law Robert (Marcia) Weston and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by Desiree Kerstine. They both had a love of all things Disney.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, September 1st from 1:00-3:00pm, with military honors performed at 2:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in David's memory to a charity of your choice.
