

Della Bennett Dillard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, died August 22, 2015 at her home in Cary, NC. Many of her family were there to share her final hours. She was born May 5, 1919 in the Little Cattaloochee area of Haywood County, NC; the daughter of George W. and Mary Coggins Bennett. She was the last surviving member of her family, having been preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, and 4 brothers. She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Emmett Urcey Dillard; 3 sons, David and wife, Hilda of Baltimore, MD, Jerry and wife, Carolyn of Durham, NC, and Clifton and wife, Jacky of Weaverville, NC; one daughter, Sandra Arscott and husband, Jim of Cary, NC; 5 granddaughters; and 6 great grandchildren.
Della was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church of Raleigh, NC for more than 65 years, where she served faithfully in several capacities as long as her health permitted. She loved to read, enjoyed crocheting, playing bridge, and crafts. She pieced and quilted a special quilt for each of her children, and crocheted more than 75 afghans, most of which she gave to family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Forest Hills Baptist Church starting at 1:00pm with a service at 2:30pm. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
