Donald Paul Millsaps

Donald Paul Millsaps, Born July 2, 1926, passed away December 9, 2014. Son of Lula Queen and Dexter Albert Millsaps he was born in Alexander County where he grew up and graduated from Taylorsville High School. He served his country in the Navy during World War II. After the war Don attended Appalachian State and then married his wife of 63 years, Arveta Cynthia Echerd (Ace).

He served as a salesman for several companies including General Motors, Chrysler, and London Fog. He retired from a career in sales with BB&T (Southern National) Leasing and continued to enjoy his love for golf (in particular- The Masters), fly-fishing, woodcarving and his friendships with close friends at St. John's Baptist Church of Charlotte where he served as a deacon. He cherished the time spent with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife, Ace of Raleigh, NC; children Cindy (Larry) Millsaps-Latocki of San Diego, CA; Chuck (Kimberly) Millsaps of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, John, Sarah and Peter Millsaps; and sister, Lois Keever of Taylorsville, NC. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Jillian Latocki. The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Crane and the nursing staff at Rex Hospital, Hospice and Springmoor Life Care Center for their care and compassion. Additional thanks to the John Hiott Fellowship Class at First Baptist Church Raleigh, NC.

A memorial service and reception in celebration of Don’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Springmoor LifeCare Center Auditorium, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh, NC. In lieu of flowers the family suggests gifts to the Springmoor Endowment Fund or the John Hiott Fellowship Class.
