

Doris Melzer Huber was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 22, 1929. She graduated from Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh, PA and continued on to receive a 2 year business degree at Westminister College in New Wilmington, PA. Doris was married to James Nicholas Huber on September 11, 1948 at Smithfield Evangelical Protestant Church in Pittsburgh, PA. They were married for 25 years, James died at age 48 on November 13, 1973 due to cancer.
Doris worked as a property manager for many years at The Palms Apartments off Lake Boone Trail in Raleigh NC. She was active and sang with the Sweet Adelines, Carolina Chapter in Raleigh NC. She enjoyed traveling with them and performed in a quartet as well. Doris was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church, Raleigh NC. She was a member of the church choir and her church Circle.
Doris is survived by her sons, James N. Huber Jr. of Durham NC and Dr. Gary A. Huber of San Diego, CA., daughter in laws, Alice (Betsy) J. Huber of Durham, NC and Rebecca Z. Huber of San Diego, CA; Daughter, Janice H. Baucom of Morrisville, NC; Son in law, James H. Baucom of Morrisville, NC; Sister, Eileen M. Hanks of Evans City, PA; Brother in law Frederick Hanks of Evans City, PA; Granddaughter, Faye Huber of San Diego, CA; Grandsons, Alexander C. Huber of San Diego, CA; James(Nick )N Huber, III, of Woburn, MA; Ryan T. Huber of Oxford, NC; Granddaughter in law Katie Huber of Oxford, NC; Nephew, Andrew Hanks of Reno, Nevada; Niece, Lindsay H. Richards of Zelienople, PA; Nephew in law, Ryan Richards of Zelienople, PA; Grand- niece, Brielle Richards of Zelienople, PA; Grand-nephew, Brody Richards of Zelienople ,PA; Great grandchildren, Lucas Huber of Woburn, MA, Cole Huber of Woburn, MA, Thomas Huber of Oxford, NC; step -grandchildren, Charles(CJ) Essary of San Diego, CA; Dr Christopher Zimmer of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Colette Rodriguez of West Hollywood, CA, step brother in law Raoul Rodriguez of West Hollywood, CA.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, James N. Huber Sr.; her mother Hertha F. Melzer of Richland, PA; her father, Alexander H. Melzer of Richland, PA.
The Celebration of Life will be held on March 18, 2026 at Highland United Methodist Church at 2pm. Rev. Janet Baucom of Highland United Methodist Church will be officiating. Interment will be at Raleigh Memorial Park following the service.
