Rachel Grissom, a resident of Waltonwood Lake Boone, Raleigh, died Sunday, June 15, 2025. Rachel was a Vance County native, the daughter of the late Charles Wade and Effie Glenn Grissom of Kittrell, NC.
She was born June 4, 1930. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her four sisters, Janie Grissom, Connie McLeod, Beth Bussey and Edith Sheldon.
Rachel was a graduate of Zeb Vance High School and Henderson Business College and spent her career employed by the Durham County Department of Health. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Durham, where she lived for over 70 years.
Rachel is survived by her three nephews, Charles Shelden, Jeffrey Sheldon, and John Bussey.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Peace's Chapel Baptist Church, 4044 Fairport Rd, Kittrell, NC 27544.
Brown-Wynne, 300 Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh is serving the Grissom Family.
