

Elaine (Fischer) Miller, age 89, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Born on May 9, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Irving and Gloria (Bogoff) Fischer. Elaine graduated from Erasmus High School. She went back to school later in life and studied jewelry design at Parsons School of Design in New York City. This was no surprise to her family as she had always been admired for her creativity and style.
In the 1950’s as a counselor at sleep-away camp in New York, Elaine met her future husband Selwyn Miller. They were married on September 9, 1956. Elaine and Selwyn welcomed the addition of their son, S. David Miller in 1958. The Miller family resided in Bronxville and then Mamaroneck, New York. Elaine started coming to Durham, North Carolina in the 1980’s and made Raleigh her home with her husband Selwyn in the 1990’s.
After many years of hard work, Elaine opened her own jewelry store in Raleigh, North Carolina. Formerly known as Elaine Miller Collection, a boutique jewelry store in the Lassiter District of North Hills that offered many elegant and sophisticated pieces of jewelry for any occasion. Over the years, residents of Raleigh and the surrounding area came to appreciate Elaine’s creative genius and rely on her amazing eye for truly unique, beautiful, and elegant fine jewelry.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her late husband, Selwyn Miller, and her two daughters; Gwenn Michele Miller and Tobey Leah Miller.
She leaves behind her son, S. David Miller and his wife Catherine Shuman Miller of Williamsville, New York; Her beloved grandchildren, Hallie E. Miller and Philip J Miller, her sister, Anita Cimino, extended family, and many friends who have become like family.
Elaine will be laid to rest following a private graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery; 701 Oakwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC.
The Miller family wants to thank the staff at The Cardinal as well as all of her personal caretakers for the love and care they provided during Elaine's time there.
