Faye Lee Miller

Faye Lee Miller, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.

Faye was born to the late Willa and Paul Lee on April 21, 1941 in Dunn, North Carolina. She was the sixth of eight children. When she was just 16 years old, she met the love of her life W. Stacy Miller whom she married 5 years later and adored as husband for over 50 years. The couple chose to settle in Raleigh, where Faye nurtured her family and volunteered in her community. She was a lady who preferred to work behind the scenes and was instrumental in the building of the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education where the annual Faye L. Miller Service Award was established in her honor. She was also involved in Meals on Wheels, The Wake County Medical Auxiliary, and White Memorial Presbyterian Church where she helped establish a foot washing ministry for the homeless. She was given the Jefferson Award for Community Service by Governor Jim Hunt for her work in this ministry.

Faye’s biggest commitment, however, was to her family and friends. She was a tirelessly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose legacy of love, devotion, self-sacrifice and faith are lasting. Orchestrating family gatherings was her passion, and she was happiest when she was sitting around the table with her loved ones enjoying the richest kind of fellowship.

She is predeceased by her parents and six brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband W. Stacy Miller, M.D., a daughter Tiffany Miller Clark and husband William G. Clark IV of Tarboro, N.C., a son William Stacy Miller II and wife Carole Beaumont Miller of Raleigh, and son Robert Lance Miller and wife Anna Berney Miller of Nederland, CO. “Mimi”, as she was affectionately called, also leaves behind four grandchildren: Miller and Grimes Clark of Tarboro, NC; and Faye Malin and Kerry Miller of Nederland, CO. Faye is also survived by a sister, Joanne Lee Taylor of Murfreesboro, TN , brothers and sisters-in-law James and Daisy Lowery and Emery and Sally Miller, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.

There will be a Memorial Service at White Memorial Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 25th at 2:00pm. The family will be receiving friends at the Jane Bell Gathering Room at White Memorial Presbyterian Church on Thursday, January 24th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm as well as after the Memorial Service.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Hospice of Wake County and in particular to Sue, Aimee, Wanda and also Sandra for the compassionate care that they devoted to Faye during her final days.

Memorials may be made to the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education (224 Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh NC 27610), White Memorial Presbyterian Church (1704 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, NC 27608), and Hospice of Wake County (250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC 27607).

Stacy and family I know Faye is RIP . She and I
discussed this on the Saturday that I had a good visit with her .We talked about letting our light shine for others to see. This candle reminds me of the light that shines from Faye that touched so many hearts. I will always have her in my heart. She was a special friend and I will always remember her shining light.
