Frances Gaskins Cayton, 83, died November 30, 2013. Frances was born and raised in Pamlico County, NC. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class in Stonewall, NC. She attended Kings Business College and worked as a secretary prior to becoming a homemaker. Her passions were reading and gardening. She and her late husband Verne lived in several eastern North Carolina communities and were active members in each of the local Presbyterian churches.
Frances is survived by her children, Joy Jones and husband, Gene, and Ellis Cayton and wife, Alison; grandchildren, Lori, Caroline and Ariana, Frances and Donald; and nephews, Larry and Nick Lomonte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Furney and Hattie Gaskins; husband, Verne Cayton; and sister, Shirley Lomonte.
A graveside service will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern, NC.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Ellis Cayton’s home on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
