          dentist for many years. I just learned of
          Rick’s death moments ago from a mutual 
           friend. I am so sorry for your loss . I can 
           unequivocally state that Rick was the
           ultimate gentleman and I know the 
            world is a little worse off without him.

Great obituary. Sounds like Rick lived a life to be proud of.

I've got good memories of Rick from our days at R.J. Reynolds Senior High School, and perhaps also from 9th & 10th grade Mount Tabor High School. 

I too have been in the Raleigh area for quite a while, and I'm sorry I did not know to try to track Rick down.

Although you and I never have met, I have been a good friend of Rick’s for many years - at least 20 years at Blue Cross solving problems together- but even more meaningfully these past two years since I retired and joined the golf group.  I am still not processing his passing - hard to believe such a positive, energetic, grace-filled spirit is not with us any longer. I will terribly miss his light hearted demeanor - always lifting up people and never displaying anger.
I can clearly hear in my head his 7:30 am cheery call of “Hey Pete!” as I arrived at the course. As if I just made his day. 

Rest in the peace of Christ, my friend.

I worked with Rick at Blue Cross for years and I've missed his knowledge and banter.  I went to college in Geneseo which is close to where his wife Patty grew up.  I am sorry to be traveling and unable to attends Rick's service. My sincere condolences and prayers for peace to Patty, Christy and the rest of his family and friends.  

I met Rick about six years ago when I first joined a small group at Summit Church.    I was new at Summit and was not yet baptized.   Rick was a mentor for my path with Christ along with a core group of men at Summit.   Rick's love of Jesus, of people and the Word were a blessing for me and many.

The golf balls---I reside behind the par-5 at Olde Liberty Golf Course.  Frequently I find balls in the woods and back yard behind my house.   I would bring some in for my brothers.  Rick told me he played golf at Olde Liberty every now and then.  I am sure they were not his lost balls (if he ever loses any), but he liked getting a good pre-used golf ball.   He would always pick out the color balls---bright green, reds, blue, etc.   He told me over the years it helps to better see his drives going down the fairway using the bright color balls than the traditional white golf balls.   I think Rick was not alone in that preference.    I will miss donating balls to Rick, but more than so is the fellowship and friendship.   

All things are new Brother...hit them straight and long, till we meet again.

We are shocked and saddened at Rick’s sudden passing. My kids fondly recall being at the pool with him and diving for coins (genius!) at the bottom. He always stopped to chat if he saw us outside and always had a grin on his face. We will miss seeing him doing his sprints up the hill past our house. We are here for anything you need and will keep our memories of Rick in our hearts. Sending love and healing energy as you navigate life without him.

Rick was always so kind and helpful when I was a new student at NCSU and so  far away from home. I didn't have a car so he was very generous in letting me borrow his car. 
Lots of fun memories with all our college friends at Brooks Avenue Church of Christ and it was obvious that Rick loved the Lord and was truly a great example to all 
My deepest condolences to  his wife, Patty, and all who are left to cherish his memory.
 Even though I can't be at his service, I will be there in spirit.

Prayers and sympathy to Rick’s entire family. Rick was a role model as a man, coworker and professional. “Be Like Rick” would be my advice to anyone planning their life. He was always professional, consistent, knowledgeable, focused while doing this with a positive attitude. Any death is difficult but the loss of really good people like Rick is next level. He loved  his family and was important to all of his friends. Proud to have known him for many years. God Bless.

Patty, I don't think I ever saw Rick without a smile on his face, or a twinkle in his eye.  The love he had for you and Christy was so evident.  He was a truly good man.  I grieve with you at his passing, but I rejoice at knowing he is with the Lord he loved.  My prayers for you, Christy and her family, and Kay are  for God's perfect peace and comfort to cover you completely!  Love and hugs!

I meet Rick when I went to Winthrop.  I lived in Wofford he was the RD at Richardson.  I went to Bible Study at his apartment.  He was always nice to talk too.  He loved God and shared that with us as we studied God’s word.

Sorry to hear of Rick's passing. Worked with Rick for over 30 years at Blue Cross. I enjoyed talking to him at our "old coots" luncheon. God bless you and the family.

It was a very cold winter night at Rick’s parents house when I put my Dad’s latch hook lion rug on my back and roared at Uncle Rudy’s cat Boots - who freaked out and ran out the back sliding glass door.  Rick was so kind to go to the back yard and search for boots.  We split up and and went into the adjacent forest, and I am so glad Rick found Boots shivering and curled up next to a tree.  That night Rick not only saved Boots’ life, but likely mine as well because Uncle Rudy and Aunt Valia loved Boots so much!!  Much love to the family!!

Our deepest sympathies to Patty and Rick's other family members. I remember when he first came to work with me along with many good times together. But most of all, he and Patty as brother and sister in Christ helped us significantly along the path to eternity. May God comfort all who mourn his passing.

I called him Frederick and he called me Glenda, even though neither of us went by those names.  Rick was our BCBS A&U support.  He was the one I called when something went wrong and he didn’t hesitate to make it right. 

Go Rest high on that mountain my friend. 

Rick was always a very kind and a nice guy.  I remembered him as a programmer for claims production reports.  He was a very smart man.  My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.

Playing golf with Rick over the past few years was so much fun! And even when my asthma or cataracts were troublesome, he would jump to my assistance and be my “seeing eye dog”. We got to be friends and I will miss him so! It’s still hard realizing he won’t be around 😢

I worked with Rick at The Blue for over 30 years. He was the “go to” guy for everything. Rick was a complete joy and made work fun. Prayers to the family and friends. 

I worked with Rick for several years at BCBSNC. Great guy. Loved God. Loved his family. Always had a willingness to help, and goofy jokes. Gone too soon. Praying for the family.
