Genevieve Geiger (Dalton) Johnson passed away at Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center in Raleigh.. She was the daughter of the late Achille and Mabel Geiger of Colonial Heights, Virginia. Genevieve was born October 21st 1920 in Nottoway County, Virginia. She lived in West Chester, PA from 1938 to 1940, Washington, D.C. from 1941 to 1942 and moved from Virginia to Raleigh, NC in 1956. She began a career in the insurance service industry in 1958 where she remained active for about 45 years with Bankers Life and Casualty.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arlindo Lynn Johnson of Pittsboro, two daughters Sylvia Tuck, Gloria Frazier Walters and a brother, Henry Geiger, Sr.
She became a member of the Edenton Street Methodist Church of Raleigh in 1959. Since 1960 she has been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cary Chapter, and North State Shrine, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
She is survived by a son Stanley Dalton and his wife Kathy of Raleigh; a daughter Deanna Tuck and her husband William (Buddy) of Winston-Salem, a nephew Henry Geiger, Jr. and his wife Maxine of Roanoke, VA; a step daughter Susan Johnson Andrews of St. Augustine, FL. Third and fourth generation survivors include: 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Final arrangements are made by Brown-Wynne, St. Mary’s St., Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday Jan. 3 at Brown-Wynne from 5PM to 7PM. A memorial service will be 2:30PM Sunday Jan 4 at the Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC. Officiating will be Pastor Will Hasley of Edenton St. Methodist Church.
