Even though it has been years since I've seen Gerald, I considered him to be the older brother that I never had. I remember our families getting together almost every weekend so that our parents could play pinochle. We had a blast! I loved your dog, PJ too. I also remember one particular night that we were dropped off at your house at midnight when our Mama went to the hospital to have our little brother Jimmy, who ended up being the ringbearer in Donna's wedding. I just have so many memories of so many good times with all of you. My heart breaks for what you are going through. You are each in my thoughts and prayers. Gerald was the coolest and I can imagine him riding the waves in Heaven right now. I love you all.

Gerald has been a good friend since our first meeting on the VFD Little League baseball team.  He was always happy and fun to be around.  If you knew Gerald you liked Gerald.  He did his best to get my socially awkward, shy self to be more outgoing through Jr. & Sr. High.  We shared a love of music, dogs & sports and I have fond memories of riding in his little silver 4 door car jamming to music while he played lead steering wheel :).  My family liked Gerald and he was over often to our little house on Bordeaux St. that was so similar to his on Red Oak.  Gerald’s huge family always made me feel welcome, as they did everyone.  I’m so glad we reconnected in recent years, but was saddened by the circumstances of the cruel disease that he was fighting.  My deepest condolences to Stephanie, Chris, Sydney and the entire Vaughan family.

A memory I have of Gerald is, he loved to play chess at work in the break room!  I think I beat him once at the game!  He was a great chess player!  Also he had a great sense of humor!  Fun memories!

Thoughts and prayers to the whole family. I had the privilege of working with Gerald at the Raleigh/Durham airport. I remember he would always have a newspaper in his back pocket, the sports page of course. I remember he would give us all a ride to the employees parking lot at night so we didn’t have to wait for the bus. I grew up in Swansboro and I found out Gerald was from Jacksonville. This helped us to become friends, talking about the coast and surfing. Great coworker and friend. God bless!

Although my last name  was Rose , I  was always and always will also be a Vaughan and a  family sibling to this  wonderful  family . I have been a lifelong best friend to Gerald’s sister Donna and have been a part of this family since we were all just little kids. We share so many loving,  funny and precious memories of that little house on Red Oak Street and P Bull dog .  Riding mini bikes in the back yard, always a b ball game going on and kids running around playing and having so much fun at any given time everyday. Your parents treated me as another child of theirs in every way. If  I was there for dinner or a ride in the family station wagon. I can still hear your dad say “Pin a rose on Patti Rose” whenever he saw me. I never knew what that meant but oh how I loved him! I remember pizza night when your dad made pizza crust and each kid decorated their own . I remember watching tv laying on the living room floor in front of the tv with PJ there too. If I misbehaved,  I was disciplined as another Vaughan child . Sleep overs were fun as now there were 3 girls in one bed!  I could go on and on. This  family was more my own than my own. How I loved each of you. I look at Gerald’s picture now and I am transported to those happy days!  Thank you Gerald for all the happy memories and love your family gave me. You will be greatly missed and I know have joined your waiting parents and grandparents who loved you so! See you there someday at the Vaughan reunion. Love to you all  Patti “Vaughan” Rose

Uncle Gerald was always so friendly and sociable. Always enjoyed catching up at family events and hearing funny stories from his childhood. Will miss him dearly.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of my high school classmate, Gerald Vaughan. Though we weren’t close in later years, we shared a time in life many years go that I’ll always remember. My thoughts are with his family and all who knew him. Rest in peace, Gerald.

Gerald was my coworker at RDU from 2006 to 2014. We became close friends during that time not only at work but also outside of work, golfing, playing pool, even tennis once. Once was enough tennis for me. He ran me from one side to the other until I literally fell and rolled. He was a competitor no matter what he was doing. Always fun to be around. He was an excellent coworker also. Always where he was supposed to be, doing what he was supposed to be doing.  He is home now for sure and I look forward to seeing him there when I arrive.

Gerald this is Luca. I know you here me. You are one of a kind. The unexpected one liners always make me laugh. Our competitive chess games were intense and out of no where the musical lyrics that came out of your mouth while we were playing would throw me off my game and always make me laugh. I tnink you do it on purpose. The way you know so many songs always amazed me. I still remember your favorite rock band. Bad Company. Ironically enough  you were always good Company. Love you, miss you . To the Vaughn family my heart felt prayers to you and Gerald. He is a great addition  to heaven .

Gerald was that type of individual who no matter what kind of day you were having, he always made you smile.  That bad day just became better.  He was Gerald,  everyone just gravitated to him.
My most heart felt sympathy for the Vaughn family. G will be greatly missed , but  never forgotten.

I have had the pleasure of working with Sydney for the last year and I couldn't imagine a better person to work with. Although I didn't know Gerald, I can already tell that he raised a fantastic person who will be very successful in life and, more importantly, cares deep about others. My heart breaks for your family's loss. Our sincerest condolences and heartfelt prayers in this difficult time.

Condolences to Stephanie, Chris and Sydney,
 My memory's of Gerald extend back to the days we worked together in Baltimore for Piedmont Airlines. Gerald always had a good work ethic and took pride in his work.  I must say,  we enjoyed many a card game over the years!! I know Gerald cherished his family as he spoke of them frequently at work. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.
