

Gerald Crosby Vaughan of Raleigh, North Carolina, went to be with our Lord on July 31, 2025, at the age of 67 years old. He was born August 25, 1957, in Jacksonville, North Carolina to his late parents, Willard Crosby Vaughan and Barbara Vaughan McRorie.
Gerald enjoyed every chance he had, going to the beach to surf with his best friends. He was an avid classic rock lover, going to many concerts throughout his life, with The Eagles being his favorite band. He was on several baseball and basketball teams, earning his nickname “Gerald the Pearl”. He had a huge love for Boston Terriers as well as, was a huge University of North Carolina Tar Heels Men’s Basketball fan (especially, Dean Smith).
Gerald later graduated from Jacksonville Senior High School in 1976 where he went on to work various jobs, until moving to Baltimore, Maryland to start as a Fleet Service Agent for Piedmont Airlines in 1984. He later moved to Raleigh in 1995 to continue working for (Piedmont) American Airlines, earning his other nickname “G-man” for the remainder of his career until his retirement in 2019.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie (Rager) Vaughan, his son, Christopher Vaughan (Heather), his daughter, Sydney Vaughan, his granddaughter, Emma Vaughan, his eldest sister, Donna Caston (John), his younger sister, Diane Harvey (Doug), his younger brothers Glenn Vaughan and Michael Vaughan (Crystal). His mother in-law Eileen Rager, brother in law’s Rodney Rager Jr. and Andy Rager, his sister in-law Laura Bulger, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gerald is preceded in death by his father, Willard Crosby Vaughan, his mother Barbara Vaughan McRorie, stepfather, Andrew McRorie, and Father in-law Rodney Rager Sr.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Raleigh Memorial Park & Mitchell Funeral Home, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612.
