Geraldine "Gerri" F. Greene

Geraldine “Gerri” F. Greene, 85, passed away on Sunday morning, July 19, 2020 at Capital Oaks Retirement Resort after a period of declining health. Born in Winder, GA; she was the daughter of the late Joe Ceaf Freeman and Polly Mae Reynolds Freeman.

She was retired after many decades in the Insurance Industry, last working for USF&G. She had a close bond with her daughter and son, always making sure life was good for them. She was a grandmother, that always took individual attention to each grandchild when having a conversation. She made them feel that they were the most important person in the room. She loved to garden and was a very detailed person.

She is survived by her husband: George Donald “Don” Greene, of Raleigh; son: F. Lee Stevens, III and wife Mitch; daughter: Denise Wells and husband Kelly; step-sons: Ben Greene and wife Suzy, Andy Greene and wife Karen and G. Don Greene, Jr. and wife Jill; by her sisters: Marie Hardigree and Shirley Dodd; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.

Gerri was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Floyd Lee Stevens, Jr. and siblings: Buster, Hubert, Vernon and Deward Freeman and Rowena O’Shields.

Private Family Services will be held on Tuesday, July 19th at 2:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. The service, officiated by her grandson, Rev. David Stevens, will be live streamed through the Facebook Page of Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park so that all may attend in spirit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and Rex Health for their wonderful service.
