

A true Yankee Doodle Dandy, Gerre was born July 4, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Elmer.
After graduating from Hallahan Girls High School in Philadelphia, Gerre worked as a private secretary at the IRS until leaving to devote herself to raising her five beloved children full-time. After which Gerre worked as a secretary at Environmental Resolutions engineering firm until retiring in 2007.
In retirement Gerre enjoyed taking care of her home and spending quality time outdoors with her husband, Frank, designing, planting and maintaining their beautifully landscaped home of 50 years in Medford, NJ. In her spare time Gerre volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Medford, NJ and played pinochle and bridge at the Medford Seniors Center. Gerre enjoyed relaxing with a good book and crocheting blankets and hats for babies in area hospitals as well as her grandchildren.
Gerre loved dancing which is how she met her husband while still in high school and most of their future dates included dancing which she enjoyed for the rest of her life.
Gerre is survived by her husband Frank and her children Joseph of NC, Linda Arnold and her husband John of NC, Karen Hatch of KY and Stephen and his wife Theresa of CA. She also had 10 special and beautiful grandchildren, Rachel and her husband Shawn Whitehead of NJ, Julia Hatch of NJ, RJ Nesko of NJ, Jamie Nesko of NJ, Philip Arnold and his wife Abby of NC, Stephen Arnold of NC, Abigail Arnold of GA, Zachary Hatch of NC, Quinn Hatch of CA, Jackson Hatch of CA. Gerre is also survived by her sister Margaret Craig of PA, brothers Thomas, Joseph and Dennis Elmer of FL.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Allen Hatch, of NJ and her brother, William Elmer of FL.
A Requiem Mass will be held 11am Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Saint Andrew The Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Rd, Apex NC. Interment will be private. The mass will be livestreamed, to join, please use the 'join livestream' link in the services box below.
