Trudy was a graduate of Needham Broughton High School and St. Mary’s Junior College. She also attended UNC Charlotte and ASU and received a Master’s in Library Science. After graduation she worked in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System as a Media Specialist for over 20 years. She was also a docent for 18 years at the Museum of History. She was honored to receive Docent Emeritus Award in July 2018.
Trudy joined on March 29, 1942 by Baptism and Profession of Faith. She was an active and faithful member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, served as a volunteer at the Church’s reception desk, a member of Mourning Glories (a support group for those who have lost children).
Trudy is survived by her daughter, Sherry Conrad Frye (Jack) of Goldsboro, NC and Robert Chappell (Pat) of Chapel Hill as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in death by her son, Robin B. Conrad, a sister, Mary Buchanan and brother, Jesse Chappell, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park on Hwy 70 in Raleigh, NC, Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 12:30pm.
