Following the death of her mother at a young age, she became mother to her three younger siblings. Gladys was married to the late, Earl H. Phillips in 1941.
For many years she worked in hospitals and nursing centers as a nurse’s aid, and also kept children in her home. She was a long-time member of Palmer Memorial Freewill Baptist Church, where she taught the juniors in Sunday School.
Gladys is survived by her sister, Eula Pyle of Delaware; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2:30pm at Palmer Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the many special friends from Palmer Memorial who visited and helped Gladys over the years.
