Reba Gretchen Metz Hamid died peacefully at The Oaks of Mayview care facility in Raleigh on Sunday, May 25, 2014. She was born in Guilford County to Alvin C. Metz and Margaret Medearis Metz on February 4, 1930. She was educated at Women’s College and taught in the public schools in Raleigh.
She is survived by a sister, Ellen Metz von Nardroff; grandchildren, Najia S. King and Lance al’Baati, and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral servicel will be in the Chapel of the Annuciation at Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 2, 2014.
