I vividly remember Papaw sharing his old Army stories about his time in service and talking about all his hunting guns.  He always wanted me to sit on his leg when I was a kid.  I saw him much more often when I was younger.   

When my parents were married, we went over to see my grandparents all the time, especially for holiday functions.   Then, as life as a habit of doing, time gets away from us.  Parents got divorced, we grew up, got married, had kids, military displacement, busy jobs, etc.  We lost touch over the years, but I'd always ask Dad how they were doing.  

I hate how he had to go out of this world, but Papaw lived a full, happy life and LOVED his family!  Even though we lose touch with our loved ones in life at times, they never leave your heart and memory - which I'm forever grateful for.    Thank you for being such a great Papaw, loving your family, and serving our country honorably.  May your memory live on. ❤️🙏🏻

I grew up with Jack and his family.  I met his Dad a few times during my childhood. Usually us kids running in out of our homes, passed by i would wave occasionally. He always waved back. He was a bug man to a small child.  I had the pleasure of meeting him again last year. Took a minute but he remember me.  Love and condolences to the family. 

So very blessed to have shared a friendship with  Jack, however brief. He was a cheerful neighbor who always brought a smile to my face as he and Cleo did their evening strolls. My heart goes out to Jack Jr. and family - you were a devoted son who did so much for your dad. God’s grace that you will find peace in the good memories. 

Thinking of all of you during this hard time. Jack Jr. you devoted the last 3 or so years taking care of your Dad and you did a remarkable job making many sacrifices along the way. My heart is sad for everyone that Big Jack touched. Praying for all of you. 

I will always be thankful that my Mom met and married this man and even though I didn't call him Dad, he raised me from 9  years old to the day I left home .  I'm proud to say he was a good father and well loved and will be missed greatly.

I grew up and had the pleasure to be around Big Jack throughout the years . I was around him more In my older adult years. I enjoyed sitting with him and listening to all his stories. He was so proud of his military days and would often tell me about the places he had been to.  In the past five years he would tell me more about his life as a child and early adult years.  He had a sense of humor , liked to dance and had a sweet tooth like me . Every time I would enter the house he would be happy to see me and tell me I was family. He would always say, “welcome home!!!!”  I stayed with him a week once when Jack jr.  went out of town. He lived with Jack jr.  We had a great time watching cowboy movies and he even watched the entire movie Gone with the wind with me. He loved riding in my convertible and wanted to go fast so we got on the belt line.  We talked about many things and even shopped for some veteran caps and T-shirts online together.  He usually went to bed fairly early but he would stay up late when I came to visit.  He liked talking about places he had been. He loved his trinkets and often would show them to me and tell me something about each of them.  I took my grandson to see him a couple of times and he really enjoyed being around Daniel.  He really loved Cleo his and His son Jack’s dog.  He babied her and she was by his side always. She was his side kick. A couple of years ago we sat out on his deck and watch three different firework displays on Fourth of July in different directions that were being held in different areas of wake county. We could see them all from his balcony and he loved it! We rang in the New year right before the pandemic hit as he stayed up until the countdown watching it on tv . We celebrated and it was nice being together as a family.  I loved him very much and I know he is listening to music in heaven and dancing with a smile on his face.  He will be missed. Until we meet again……. I know you will be there with arms opened wide. 

Sending love and light to Jackie, "Little Jack" and family during this difficult time. Praying for strength for all of you for the days ahead. Daddy Jack was surely one of a kind and his stoic spirit and smile will never be forgotten.

My favorite memory of Daddy Jack was from our childhoods days. I will never forget the time he pulled up to Hayes Barton pool to pick us up from swimming. He pulls up in his freshly cleaned car blasting his country music, his dachshund "Butch" hanging out the window and on the loud speaker......."Jack and Jackie Ann...this is your Daddy....I am here to get you".  Everyone knew Daddy Jack had arrived! Shortly after that summer he gifted me his dog Butch and that dog was my best friend for many years to come.  

I know he has joined his heavenly home and reunited with Grandma Bea again. I am asking that God embrace you all in his heavenly love and protection as you mourn your loss of Daddy Jack.

When I first met Jack  thirty years ago, one of the first things that I noticed was how he much he loved hearing and telling a good story. Most would be followed by his signature chuckle. He was one of those people that always made you feel like he was truly happy to see you. He was a simple man and it didn’t need much to make him happy. He worked hard but never complained. I am grateful for his life and that our paths crossed. I will miss his sparkling eyes and dry wit. He made the world better one chuckle at a time. 💙

Thinking of Jackie, Danny, Little Jack, Britney, Karen, Phillip, and all who were part of Daddy Jack,s extraordinary life. So many memories and "Daddy Jack" stories to share to keep you smiling and remembering his wit and sense of humor. No more pain, just Light and peace where Grandma Bea has been waiting. Prayers for all of you during this hard time.
