October 27. He was 62 years old.
Born in Raleigh to the late Barbara Schroff Urquhart and the late Richard Alexander Urquhart, Jr.,
Andy was the youngest of seven children and grew up in a large and loving family. Christmas and
annual summer vacations to Atlantic Beach were wonderfully chaotic affairs full of laughter.
He attended Hale High School in Raleigh and graduated from Woodberry Forest School in
Virginia. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and remained a lifelong Tar
Heel fan. A gifted and disciplined athlete, Andy shone at several sports throughout his life,
especially soccer and golf. He was a previous member of The Country Club of North Carolina and
Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Scotland.
Andy excelled in computer networking as a salesman and technician, working at sites around the world. He enjoyed experiencing other cultures as a bonus to the travel his job required. He was
known to be a great translator of technical issues and able to recommend the right solutions for his
clients. His consummate salesmanship continued with his most recent job at JoS. A. Bank
Clothiers. He adored craftsmanship and encouraged those around him to admire things made well.
Andy was joyous, confident, charismatic, and loved to communicate. He could relate to anyone of
any background, as proved by the love and number of his many friends. He deeply admired his
family, friends, and coworkers. He was humorous and silly, always wanting to make those around
him laugh. He adored classic rock music, old westerns, James Bond, and the Pink Panther. Andy
was also an automobile enthusiast for many years, owning and admiring countless American and
German cars.
Andy is survived by his wife Dina of Durham, NC and two children, T. Wayne Urquhart of
