James Bartholomew Callanan Jr.

He was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on June 2, 1948 to the late James B. and Anna Allard Callanan.

Lovingly known as “Jim,” he was a lover of literature, art, travel, ancestry, and history. He graduated from Xavier High School in Concord, Massachusetts in 1966. Jim went on to obtain a baccalaureate degree in chemistry from St. Michael’s College.

In addition to his parents, Jim Callanan was preceded in death by his brother, John Francis Callanan and his son, Thomas James Callanan.

Jim is survived by his wife, Wanda, and sibling, Mary and spouse Lynn McCoy. He is also survived by his children, Meghan E. and spouse Jesse Mulky, Andrew P. Callanan and Natalie Chesson-Pope, and Mary Caitlin Floyd. Jim is survived by his step-children, to include: Shauna and spouse Scott Floyd, Robert and spouse Arianna Floyd, Teresa and spouse Robert Henderson, Jason and spouse Rebecca Floyd, Sharlynn and spouse Matthew Sanders, and Jared Floyd.

Jim Callanan was loved and respected by all that knew him, but perhaps, most by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was blessed with Jordan and spouse, Kyle McGannon and their children, Kara and Rowan McGannon, Hallei Floyd, Brittany and spouse Lee Pixton, Brianne and spouse Ben Wilkins, Hannah Floyd, Kayla Floyd, Korey Floyd, Emily Nugent, Dayson Henderson, Caydence Floyd, Lorelei Floyd, John-Duncan Henderson, Madilynn Sanders, Caroline Floyd, Hayden Sanders, Coleman Henderson, Audrey Floyd, Sol Rondon, and Sebastian Floyd.

Most that were blessed to be a part of Jim’s life would agree that his patience, wisdom, and compassionate traits were only a few that made a large impact on our hearts and souls.

Please join us to celebrate Jim’s life on Monday March 8, at 1:00 pm at The Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1524 Jenkins Rd. Wake Forest, NC 27587. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 12:00 to 12:45.

Burial will immediately follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
