James Eugene Pendergraft, Jr., "Penny", 86, passed away on Thursday evening, December 20, 2018 at Wake Medical Center. Born on February 10, 1932 in Raleigh; he was the son of the late James E. Pendergraft, Sr. and Metta Holmes Pendergraft.
James worked as a roofer with Hamlin Roofing Company and also specialized in heating and air conditioning issues.
He is survived by his wife: Toni E. Rosenberg; five children: Margaret Pendergraft, of Raleigh, James C. Pendergraft, of Clayton, Elizabeth Bizzan Martinez (Rene), of Ft. Myers, FL, Doris Briggs (Scott), of Wake Forest and Genelle Silva, of Lorton, VA; by 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and by his siblings and their families: Phillip Pendergraft (Doris), of Raleigh, Thomas G. Pendergraft (Kristina), of Raleigh and Lewtisha Baker (Jim), of Youngsville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Anne Stroupe Pendergraft and by his son: Douglas Scott Pendergraft.
Visitation for the family will be held on Wednesday, December 26th from 12 -2 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue), with Funeral Services to begin at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
