

Jim grew up in Mt. Horeb, WI and graduated from Mt. Horeb High School in 1949 and lettered in football, baseball, basketball and track.
He attended Platteville Mining School, Platteville, WI before being drafted into the US Army in March 1951.
Jim served in Korea and was honorably discharged in March 1953. He then enrolled in the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Engineering and graduated in 1958 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Jim was employed by Westinghouse Electric Company as a sales engineer from 1958 to 1989, then for Asea Brown Bavari until retirement.
Jim married Gladys May Hanson in Cambridge, WI on September 3, 1954. They had three sons: Scott Richard, Bradley James and Kent John.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters Elizabeth Ulrich and Joan Aldine Ulrich Gammeter and brother Jon Almon Ulrich and son Bradley James Ulrich. He is survived by his wife Gladys Ulrich, two sons, Scott (wife Terese) and Kent, granddaughter Nichole Teresa Ulrich all of Clayton, NC and granddaughter Holly Lynn Ulrich Foti (husband Justin Foti) of West Allis, WI.
Services will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7290 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 22, 2014 following cremation. The family will receive guests immediately following the memorial service. Interment will be at a later date in Rockdale Cemetery, (Rockdale) Cambridge, WI.
