Janece Ann Causseaux of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away on July 9, 2024 at the age of 90. She was born on March 18, 1934 in Roby, Texas. Having lost both her parents, she moved to Albuquerque, NM at the age of 13 to live with her brother and sister-in-law. In 1953 she met a “handsome GI” named Allen and they were married 3 short months later. During the first 16 years of their 65 year marriage, Allen and Janece relocated over 15 times. In 1968, they moved to Alexandria, Virginia where they enjoyed 49 years of calling Virginia “home”. Janece took the role of Military wife and Mom of 2 with total commitment and made those duties her priority. Through some lean years, she learned to stretch a penny into a nickel making sure that her children did not want for anything or do without. Dinners were always prompt, delicious, and most importantly, together. After her children were grown, she pursued a “second career” working for the Department of Defense and retired with over 20 years of service. Janece was never one to blow her own horn and often came across a little shy or reserved, but make no mistake, she was fierce. She never backed down from a challenge and always excelled at the task at hand. She could sew, cook, clean, and handle just about any household chore with precision and was always dressed to a tee doing so. She had a wit and sense of humor that would catch you by surprise and leave you in tears from laughter. She was always doing something and in her retirement years enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, knitting, and chatting with friends and loved ones. She played a mean game of hand and foot and scrabble and could challenge the best at either one. She was a diehard Cowboy fan and thoroughly enjoyed football season. While she had many hobbies and pastimes, her greatest love and pride was her family and she made sure they knew it.
Janece was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Annie Waddell , her brother Gerald D. Waddell, her son Bruce Allen Causseaux, and her lifelong love Allen B. Causseaux. She is survived by her daughter Pam McCollum of Raleigh, NC (Michael), her daughter in law, Barbara Causseaux of Fairfax Station, VA, Granddaughter Arrin Bristow (Paul) of Moseley, VA, Grandson Chase Causseaux (Heather) of Fairfax Station, VA, Grandson Grady McCollum (Amanda) of Raleigh, NC, Granddaughter Haleigh Broglin (Jeremy) of Raleigh, NC, Granddaughter Lindsey Sehrer (Tim) of Ashburn, VA, nephew, Jerry Waddell of Roundrock, TX, and her ELEVEN great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ella, Luke, Sadie, Katie, Tom, Delaney, Reagan, Bodhi, Jack, and Mickey.
There will be a Celebration of Life reception for friends on Wednesday, August 7th from 3:00 to 4:30 in the Great Room at Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community North Village, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615 and she will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
