Jeff served 28 years in the Army, beginning as a paratrooper, then Vietnam, Army Reserves, Panama, Somalia, and ending in Desert Storm. Jeff retired from the US Army at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He had multiple awards, the highest being a Bronze Star. He will be buried at Arlington Cemetery, date to be determined.
Jeff worked at various jobs, including the US archives at the US Army Center of Military History, the Naval Security Group at NSA, DOD, and Homeland Security. One of his favorite jobs at the end of his career was teaching high school history.
He had many talents and passions. He loved working in his woodshop making furniture and other items such as toy chests for grandkids, lamps cutting boards for family members, coffee tables, and a lovely curio cabinet for his wife’s teapot collection. Jeff had a special talent for creating his own designs. He enjoyed shooting trap, hit 25 occasionally, and was an excellent marksman. He gave many volunteer hours to teach military history at OLLI and other venues, and was a popular teacher.
Jeff served for 12 years as Special Advisor on the Mead Family Foundation, and was a wonderful asset to the local nonprofits in his community.
