He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Michaux Graham. He leaves behind three devoted daughters; Kathleen Graham Wood, Elizabeth Michaux Graham, and Anna Dortch Graham. He is also survived by his son-in-law Thomas Ward Wood, his grandsons John Garland Wood and Thomas Ward Wood, Jr., as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Our father was born and raised in Hillsborough, N.C. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1945. After proudly serving his country in Japan and Germany he returned to N.C. and worked for Superior Stone Company/Martin-Marietta for many years. He later founded his commercial real estate company, Graham Realty. He was a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Raleigh, and long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Our father was a true gentleman and scholar. He loved golf and the UNC Tar Heels.
Our family would like to express our deep gratitude for our father’s “team” of caregivers; Lorraine Williams, Marjorie Harrell, Twanda Arrington, Ryan Carter, and especially his physician, Dr. Todd Helton.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St.,on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Private family burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Christ Episcopal Church, 120 East Edenton St. Raleigh, N.C. 27601.
