Joseph Samuel Lancaster Sr.

Predeceased by his son Henley. Joe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Arenda; son Sam and his wife Mary of NC; 4 grandchildren- Sharon Marie Crumpler and her husband Andy, Rob Greene, Kelly Penninger and her husband Brian, Lisa Greene and 4 great-grandchildren.

After serving 4 years in the Army Airforce in WWII, Joe and his wife Arenda, started their own business in 1953, “Raleigh Typewriter Exchange.” For 50 years he was actively involved in day to day operations until the business was sold in 2003. He was a lifetime member of Temple Baptist Church in Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday January 17, in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00- 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC 27607.

A special thanks from the family to the staff at Raleigh Rehabilitation for their diligent care of Joe during his final stay there.
