Joseph “Joe” William Teichman, age 73, passed away after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Transitions LifeCare – Hospice Home in Raleigh. Born on March 1, 1952 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; he was the son of the late Joseph J. Teichman and Alice Johnson Teichman.
Joe grew up in Greentree, PA, suburb of Pittsburgh, he was 3rd in line of four children. He was the over-the-top kid, full of energy and mischief but could always make you laugh. Joe was loving, outgoing, funny and was really quick with a saying, phrase or a joke but most of all he loved and cared deeply about his family. He was a wonderful husband, dad and the best Pap, the grandchildren brought him so much joy. He was so outgoing that if you met him once you were a friend.
He started working at a local family-owned grocery chain at age 15 and continued to work his way up in retail until he retired. He was a hard worker, providing for his family, often times moving to different states for promotions. Through it all he was devoted to his family and faith.
He was a cross-country runner in his youth and continued to run for many years until work and knee issues interfered and then took to becoming an avid walker. He loved swimming, water skiing, riding his motorcycle, playing poker with his Dad and friends, eating good food, ice cream and Pittsburgh Steeler Football. His first date with his wife was even a Steeler Game. Joe will be remembered by many and missed by all.
Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years: Carmela (Luberto) Teichman; daughters: Melissa Teichman and Kaytee (Cook) Teichman, of Seattle, WA and Victoria (Teichman) Fouse and Samuel “Adam” Fouse, of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren: Avery Kay Teichman, Addison Marie Teichman, Hayden Grace Fouse, Joseph Samuel Fouse; siblings: James and Beth Teichman and family, Janet (Teichman) and Ed Balint and family, and Joyce Teichman and family; and other extended family and friends, including Joe and Beth Luberto, Jack and Laurie Luberto, and Paul and Monica Luberto.
