The family will receive friends during a visitation Memorial from 4 pm – 6 pm Saturday, November 30th at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC. There will be no funeral.
Judy was the daughter of the late J. Durwood and Jewell Lawrence. Born at home in Greene County, NC in 1943, she moved to Winterville, NC at the age of 9 and grew up on the family farm, pet pigs and all. After graduating from Winterville High School, Judy attended East Carolina College, joined Delta Zeta Sorority, received a degree in Pre-medical Technology, and then interned at Rex Hospital to become a cytologist. In 1965 she married the love of her life, the late William P. “Bill” Eyerman. They began a family together in 1967. Over the ensuing years she provided a warm and fun home for her 3 children. In 1978 she earned a Computer Science degree and shortly after graduation went to work for the State of NC, holding positions across various agencies as a programmer/analyst. Judy valued her time with the State Highway Patrol the most (loved her Troopers) and retired after 25 years of service with the State. Spending time with her family was precious to Judy – especially watching her 8 grandchildren grow. She was a “beach girl” at heart, and loved no place more than Emerald Isle, NC. Her presence will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Judy is survived by a son, Jeff Eyerman (wife Kristin) of Leesburg, Va.; 2 daughters, Beverly Lautzenheiser of Raleigh, and Jill Sherron (husband Jody) of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren, Bryn, Bryce and Parker Eyerman; Michael, Christian and Graeme Lautzenheiser; Olivia and Joyner Sherron; and a brother, John Durwood (JD) Lawrence Jr. (wife Bunny) of Winterville.
In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Humane Society.
Scripture:
John 14:1-4 ”Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” (Jesus’ words)
