To those who knew him, he was simply known as Alex. A student of anthropology at NC State University, Alex approached life with great curiosity. With a ferocious intellect, sharp sense of humor, and a heart three sizes too big, Alex will be missed by all those fortunate enough to know him. An anthropologist to his core, his approach to life was to learn much, and respect all.
Alex’s tastes were diverse. He was a lover of music of all genres, from the most avant garde of jazz, to the catchiest of hip-hop. Alex was an exceptional cook, and loved food from all cultures. Most of all, Alex was a wealth of knowledge; no matter the time or place, you could count on hearing a perspective altering fact regarding biomechanics, or geography, or art history. He has left an indelible mark on those who loved him, and will be achingly missed.
Alex’s memory is carried by his father, Anthony Norris; his mother, Kara French; and his siblings, Joseph and Emmalee Norris. Alex is predeceased by his grandfather, Ronald I. French.
Services were held at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612, on Saturday, February 15, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests donations to men’s mental health organizations. Examples of such causes include NAMI, The ManKind Project, or AFSP.
