I met Karen when we worked together as volunteers for the Alzheimer’s Walk here in Raleigh. I was drawn to her open, friendly, fun demeanor and we became instant friends. We traveled together to Cuba and had a wonderful time! She is so missed. How lucky we all were to have her in our lives. 

Karen was a dear friend to all of us  and such a blessing to our book club, formed out of program at St. Michael’s, where we all met many years ago. This was taken at one of our Christmas parties.. she will forever remain in our hearts and memories. Merry Christmas in heaven this year Karen!

Karen loved caring for dogs and they loved her. Here she is with my sweet Nala and one of her dog sitting clients (foreground) at Apex Community Park in November 2014. 

I worked with Karen at the Hospice Home, such an amazing women. Karen always brought the laughs with her sense of humor and she will be missed! ❤️

what a lovely person. She is resting now...her work on earth is done. We had more laughs, local travel and fun times talking about social work and our lives.

Dear Schommer family, I'm so sorry to hear of Karen's passing. We were such good friends in high school. She had my same sense of humor. I remember Darlene telling us, "you girls fight like sisters". But it was always something hilarious.  The Schommer house was always a fun hang out.  My thoughts are with you and again I'm so sorry you are going thru this.   Marlys 

Karen was very special and she will truly be missed. I saw her at the Hospice Home quite often... she was always smiling and was such a joy to know.  This sweet angel is healed now and gracing heaven with her presence! 

Karen and I used to work together at Transitions LifeCare. She was such a sweet lady who truly had a heart for serving others in their darkest time. Her entire life was dedicated to caring for others unselfishly. The world lost someone very special who will always be missed.
