Kathleen “Kay” Weitz, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 4, 2023 in hospice care in Cary, NC. Kay was a loving wife to her late husband, Joe, and a devoted mother to her 2 sons David and Darren. Kay grew up in war torn Liverpool during WWII.
In her late teens, she moved to the United States and joined both her sisters Norah and Rose, landing in Norfolk to begin her new life in the US. Unaware at the time, Kay met her future husband as a teenager in England. Years later after she moved to the US, they reconnected, married and raised two wonderful boys in Hampton Virginia. Kay dedicated her life to raising her family and making their home beautiful and comfortable.
Kay was extremely proud of her British heritage and enjoyed meeting her British girlfriends weekly for tea. Kay had a love and appreciation for the here and now and was always an optimistic soul.
Kay is survived by her sons Dr. David Weitz of Raleigh, North Carolina and Darren Weitz of Hampton, Virginia, grandson Jackson Weitz of Raleigh, North Carolina, her niece Karen Johnson of Hawaii, nephew Stephen Schumacher of Virginia Beach, Virginia, nephews Phil, John and Tommy Marks of Indiana. Kay will be missed, and her limitless optimism will live on in her sons and grandson.
