

Keith received his B.A. in History from Nebraska Wesleyan University, and his M.A. in History from the University of Nebraska, where he specialized in the ancient language Sumerian Cuneiform.
Keith worked as a museum curator at the NC Museum of History for over 30 years until he retired in October, 1997. Upon his retirement, he received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for his exemplary service to the State of North Carolina. He also received awards from the American Numismatic Association for his research on Bechtler gold coins, as well as on North Carolina currency and Confederate monies.
During his retirement, he enjoyed the company of his neighbors including the Hertz-Dorfers, the Rand-Berries and Fesser Fed. He enjoyed hosting the Furches Street Film Society, watching Sherlock Holmes movies, puttering around his house and watching Downton Abbey.
Along with his parents, Keith was also predeceased by his brother Kenneth Strawn of Kansas. He is survived by his daughter Natasha Strawn Richmond and her husband Chris of Raleigh.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Ave, Raleigh.
