William Nash went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 7 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by loving family and caregivers who sang him to Heaven. He leaves behind a devoted wife, Kathleen, daughter Charlene, and grandchildren Julianne and Philip.
A Durham native, William graduated from Bragtown High School and later Duke University. He served with the US Army in World War II, in the Americal Division (Pacific) and was decorated for heroism with the Bronze Star; he also received the Purple Heart. Afterward, he pursued a career with the FBI as a Special Agent, and received numerous commendations from J. Edgar Hoover for his work in the Washington, DC and New York offices. He also and served the US Senate on its special investigating committee. William was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church and devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11:00 am at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh with visitation to begin at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
