Lela Mae was born May 30, 1920 in Wake County to the late Jessie and Lela Wall.
Lela Mae is survived by her son, Ronnie Nelms and wife Faye; four grandchildren, Cathy Nelms Allen and husband Rodney, Christy Nelms Pack and husband Thomas, Terry Nelms and wife Tiffany, and Keith Nelms; four great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Hettie Wall Nelms and many other loving family and friends.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, May 31, 20141 at 2:00 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612. A graveside service at Raleigh Memorial Park will follow. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
