

Lily Rose DeVee passed away peacefully with her chosen family and friends by her side on Tuesday January 8th 2013. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 30, 1946. Lily grew up in Statesville with a large loving southern family on her beloved Papa and Mama’s farm. She graduated from Harmony High School and received her art education at the Technical Institute of Alamance County in Burlington, NC. Lily was an internationally recognized artist-illustrator who began her career at WRAL in 1968. Lily briefly worked in floral design in the mid 80’s and then completed her career with 20 years of service as and the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Lily’s hobby was antique collection and sales. She was a popular merchant at the Fair Grounds Flea Market for 40 years.
Her parents and her beloved twin brother Jerry preceded Lily in death.
She is survived by sister, Marie Daniels of South Carolina; her nephew, Jerry Hardee Jr. ;her niece, Erica Marra of Raleigh; and chosen family Kimball Sargent and Geoff Avery-Foy.
Visitation will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary’s Street in Raleigh on Friday January 11th from 7 pm until 9pm. The funeral will be on Saturday January 12th at 11 am at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church. The burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, NC at 3 pm.
