

Lisa Ellen Smith passed away on Palm Sunday, in her Raleigh home, surrounded by friends and family. Preceded in death by her beloved mother, the late Eleanor Joan Weissengruber; her grandmother Weissengruber, stepmother, Jackie Smith; and brother, Terry Brennon, Lisa is survived by her father, Donald Norman Smith; brother, Mark David Smith; sister, Jennifer Leslie Smith and siblings by marriage: Kathy Gagliardi; Mike, David and Tommy Brennon; Doug Green; Kathy Ray; Tammy Blythe; Donald’s current wife, Bobbie Sue Smith; and eleven nieces and nephews.
Born in Buffalo, NY, she graduated from Niagara Wheatfield high school in Sanborn, NY. She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh. After years of kitchen work in area restaurants, Lisa created her own housecleaning, professional organizing, and holiday decorating business.
Best known for her caring commitment to friends and neighbors, Lisa’s festive holiday and special occasion lights delighted all who passed by. She never met a stranger and her door was always open. Her nonjudgmental compassion provided a safe space for people to come and be themselves. She also enjoyed a special relationship with her cat, Clyde, who lived with her for 21 years.

Lisa’s funeral takes place at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 28th at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 219 Hillsborough St. in Raleigh with visitation preceding the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow immediately at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, N.C.
