On Saturday February 27, 2016, our mother, Sara Lois Brown Early left behind her earthly life to begin her eternal life with Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. She was 88 years young. Mom was born in Macclesfield, NC on June 23, 1927. A short time later she moved to Seaboard, NC where she grew up. Mom graduated from Seaboard High School as their Salutatorian in 1944. Mom got a full scholarship to Women's College in Greensboro, now UNC-Greensboro, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1948.
Mom's first teaching assignment was in Lewiston, NC where she met the love of her life, Bill Early. Mom and Dad were married 55 1/2 years and had 4 children. They moved to Raleigh in 1955 and never left. They were both charter members of Trinity Baptist Church. Mom worked tirelessly to grow Trinity. Mom was a wonderful seamstress and helped make Trinity's first choir robes. She taught Sunday school many years, and was also involved in various committees over 60 years that she was a member of Trinity. One thing we remember about Mom is that she studied her Bible diligently. She was a woman of great faith!
Mom's teaching career spanned 30 years with her last 18 years spent in the Wake County School System. She loved teaching math and science to middle school age children. Years after she retired young adults would approach her and say “you were my favorite teacher!" Mom loved traveling with Dad, watching her sons play sports, shopping with her daughters and spoiling her dogs! She was a wonderful mother and her 4 children adored her. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Davis, daughter, Raye Early, son, Tommy Early and wife, Nancy, and son, Roy Michael Early; two granddaughters, Karrie Holovacs and husband, Tom and Mary Beth Davis; 4 great-grandchildren, Terra, Thomas and Nicholas Holovacs and Megan Larkins; cousins, Anne Warren, Mary Will Thomas and William Long, and one spoiled dog, Rosebud.
