EN EL CUIDADO DE
Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park
Maddalena Giuditta Maria Mathis Boyer ‘Didi’ passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20th in Mount Pleasant, SC.
Didi was born May 10, 1931, in Torrebelvicino, Italy outside of Venice. She was the only child of Gioachino Mathis and Anna Maria Visona. She married Delane Boyer (deceased 2016) in Verona, Italy on November 9th, 1957, and moved to America in 1958. Didi earned her Teaching Certificate in Brescia, Italy 1953. She taught elementary through college level Italian in various educational institutions throughout the Raleigh area for nearly twenty years.
Didi touched many lives with her warmth, acceptance, and wit. She had a unique ability to connect with others on a meaningful level and make everyone feel important. She will be remembered, not by what she said or did, but how she made people feel.
Didi had three sons, Andre Boyer (partner, Mary Beth Bigley) of Maryland, Anthony Boyer (deceased 2005), and Alex Boyer (wife Terri Boyer) of South Carolina. Her two grandsons, Julian Boyer and Gabriel Boyer, brought her much joy.
A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 11:00am in the Chapel of St. Francis Catholic Church, Raleigh. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead donate to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Didi’s memory.
